Anthony Calonico - Spacious Heart

That late summer feeling. Sad about the summer passing, still some occasional dips in the lake, and a pulling inwards.

Musically it brings me to a sound with a somewhat specific emotional tone. My first time consciously finding a soundtrack for this feeling was Cass McCombs Mangy Love. Another year it was At Scaramouche by Joseph Shabason & Krgovich.

I think this September blessed me with finding a perfect soundtrack for it too: Spacious Heart by Anthony Calonico. It is ambient jazz, sincere and makes me feel like I’m driving back from the lake at dusk. Mostly instrumental, but warm vocals as well. I discovered it through Calonico’s earlier collaboration as Total Blue, which is similar, but also has a 90’s crime thriller / cop drama film vibe (super recommended too). Anyway, I’ve been really enjoying Spacious Heart and I hope you will too.
