Caribou – Honey
Stef
I don’t think this is Caribou’s best album, and I didn’t listen to it for a while after hearing the first time. However, after seeing the man on Best Kept Secret this year, I was impressed how well the music works live. Last weekend, a friend gave me the record as a birthday present and I got to revisit it.
Something special happened when I reached the third track ‘Volume’. I got a beautiful flash back to Rainbow Disco Club festival in Japan last year, when Four Tet played it in the beginning of his set. This tune was a great start of a long night full of energy on the dance floor. The recording of Four Tet is on SoundCloud, check it out.
For me this goes to show that music gets real meaning when heard in context, and even more when the feeling is shared with others. By the way, Dan Snaith (aka Caribou/Daphni), friend of Four Tet, was visiting Rainbow Disco Club too, but modestly denied his identity to people who came up to him, saying he was just someone who felt like dancing. ;)
