Cleo Sol - Lost Angel
Camiel
I was planning on recommending some serious, lightly sad autumn album to usher in the new season, but this September weekend is giving off very summery vibes here in Amsterdam. That’s why I’ve decided to go with that flow and share this perfect late-summer album with you.
Some of you might recognise Cleo Sol’s voice because she is the most prominent vocalist of the elusive SAULT, a somewhat mysterious collective of musicians helmed by producer Inflo. If you haven’t yet had the pleasure of exploring their work, check out their irresistible track ‘Wildfires’ for a taste.
As much as I enjoy SAULT, I keep on finding myself returning to Cleo Sol her solo work. Less slick production, more groove, more exploration. Her latest three albums (Heaven , Gold and Mother) were all contenders for today’s recommendation, but I ultimately chose Gold because it’s the most consistent record, perfect for a lazy sunny afternoon - or perhaps for a rainy day when you need to let some sunshine in.
