Foxwarren - 2

“Foxwarren” is a small town in western Manitoba, Canada and although I would have loved to tell you all about the interesting stuff I’ve encountered on my recent Streetview exploration, this is a music newsletter and Foxwarren is also a band.

It’s the band that was already fronted by singer Andy Shauf before his excellent 2016 breakthrough solo album “The Party”, and I’m glad that despite Shauf his solo success, the band still put out their debut album in 2018. I am even more delighted that this album has received a successor this year.

Even though the record features Shauf’s characteristic vocals and subdued fuzzy sounds we have come to expect from his solo work, the sound of Foxwarren is richer, more playful and a little more rough around the edges. There is room for sampling, some faster tracks and some more experimental meandering, but fear not - Shauf has brought his exquisite songwriting skills to this record as well.
