Ryan Davis & the Roadhouse Band - New Threats From The Soul
Camiel

Last Wednesday, MJ Lenderman & The Wind played a stellar show in Amsterdam. As I suspect many of you are already familiar with his tiptop record Manning Fireworks (if not, go check it out), today’s newsletter is about the equally impressive support act, Ryan Davis & The Roadhouse Band.
As touring becomes more expansive and more of a hassle, it is a great privilege to see a support act bring a six-piece band to the stage, and an excellent one at that. Ryan Davis’ vocals are reminiscent of a less angry Matt Berninger while the band’s sound could be described as Songs: Ohia-inspired with the rhythm section of The War on Drugs. It is a pleasure to hear a band that sounds so comfortable on stage, a vibe they managed to hold on their latest album, recommended here today.
If you need more convincing: Silver Jews frontman David Berman once said Ryan Davis is the best non-rapper lyricist he knows.
By the way, for those in Amsterdam – find Ryan Davis and his Roadhouse Band at Tolhuistuin on September 7.
