Songs: Ohia - Magnolia Electric Co.
Camiel

Early this summer, I found myself driving along the endless but gorgeous roads of the Scottish coast, exploring the country’s outer isles. Thanks to its fickle weather, Scotland is no destination for the average sun-and-beach vacation—it actually felt like fall had already arrived.
One day, when the sun was shining but rain clouds were starting to roll in, our road trip soundtrack needed an adjustment. We chose Magnolia Electric Co. (2003) by the late Jason Molina, released under his Songs: Ohia moniker. This dark, compelling album has a rare clarity and beauty, recorded live in the studio so it almost feels like you’re in the audience at an intense show. It’s perfect for a rainy day—just like the ones we are about to see plenty of.
Even without the Scottish coastline, I’m sure it will be able to impress you.
